We’re not trying to fool you: There is still no release date for the Deftones‘ highly-anticipated album Eros–which has been shelved following the November 2008 car accident of bassist Chi Cheng–but it looks like we’ll see some new music from the band next month.
On April 16th, In honor of this year’s Record Store Day, the Deftones will release a covers album which sees the metal crew tackling some of their most notable cover tunes including cuts by The Cars, Drive Like Jehu, The Smiths, Sade, Jawbox, the Cardigans, Lynyrd Skynrd, Duran Duran and more. The album will be released exclusively on vinyl and will be available in limited quantities. While many of these covers have been released in other formats, they have never been available on LP.
.
Other artists participating in this year’s Record Store Day include Jimmy Eat World, My Chemical Romance, Mastodon, Glassjaw and countless others.
